The OCC Will Test AI in Credit Exams Without an AI Standard

FTI Consulting caught the detail that matters in OCC Bulletin 2026-29. Credit examiners will now test models and third-party tools inside asset quality reviews, yet the model risk guidance they point to explicitly excludes generative and agentic AI. So the examiner shows up without a standard and the bank has to bring one. That's a gift if you're ready. On the AI approval committee I served on, the hardest part was never picking a framework. It was proving each use case actually met it, with evidence someone outside the room could follow. NIST's AI RMF gives you the vocabulary. Can your credit team show the receipts?
