MAS Says You Own Your Vendor's AI Risk. Can You Actually Replace It?

The line in MAS's final AI risk guidelines that I'd circle is third-party accountability. Financial institutions stay accountable for AI their vendors build and operate, and if the risk can't be brought within appetite, MAS expects them to consider suspending or replacing it. I've watched privacy programs learn this lesson the hard way. A vendor questionnaire feels like assurance until you need to switch providers and find the model wired into everything. Being able to replace an AI service is an architecture decision you make on day one, long before anyone raises it in a risk review. If your model provider failed your assessment tomorrow, how long would the swap take?
